The woodworking industry in Tegowanu Village, particularly the sector managed by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), plays a vital role in the local economy. Wood planers are essential tools in the production process within this industry; however, MSME operators frequently encounter challenges—specifically regarding the maintenance of planer blade sharpness. Manual sharpening processes are time-consuming and often yield imprecise results. Consequently, this community service initiative aims to enhance production quality and productivity. The implementation strategy employs a participatory community empowerment model known as Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). This method was selected because the partners themselves are the ones facing the issues; thus, their active involvement in identifying and implementing solutions is crucial. The outcomes addressing the partners' challenges include: 1) the provision of appropriate technology in the form of an automatic planer blade sharpener; and 2) technology transfer—transitioning from manual sharpening to the automatic machine—accompanied by training on operating procedures and maintenance. The achievements and outputs of this community service program include: 1) improved quality and productivity for the partners; 2) enhanced partner understanding regarding the operation and maintenance of the automatic blade sharpener; and 3) publication in a national journal.
