Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health concern in Indonesia and requires early prevention efforts through regular monitoring of infant and toddler growth. As a community-based health service, Posyandu plays an important role in this process; however, it continues to face challenges associated with the use of manual measuring instruments and conventional data recording, which may lead to measurement errors and data loss. This community engagement programme aimed to enhance the competence of Posyandu cadres in conducting anthropometric measurements using Internet of Things (IoT)-based equipment developed through the downstreaming of research findings. The programme was conducted at Posyandu Mawar, Pandana Merdeka Housing Complex, Semarang City, through several stages, including partner needs assessment, socialisation, training, equipment-use demonstrations, hands-on practice, and assistance in using a digital data-recording application. The results demonstrated that the cadres were able to operate the IoT-based anthropometric equipment, record data digitally, and understand how to utilise measurement results for monitoring infant and toddler growth. The implementation of this technology improved the efficiency of Posyandu service delivery, reduced the potential for errors associated with manual record-keeping, and supported the early detection of stunting risk. These findings demonstrate that the downstreaming of research outputs into community engagement programmes can provide tangible benefits for improving the quality of community health services.
